Meet Our Chief of Staff
Born and raised in Minnesota, Dr. Stacy Laxen received a B.S. in Animal Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she moved to Miami, Florida where she worked for two years as an associate veterinarian in a small animal clinic. Realizing she missed the change of seasons, Dr. Laxen made Syracuse home in May 2012, where she has continued her career as a small animal veterinarian.
Dr. Laxen's professional passion is animal behavior, where she helps people better understand and communicate with their pets, thus strengthening the human animal bond. Her professional interests also include internal medicine and cardiology. She is the proud mom of four rescue cats, Bossy, Monty, Evy, and Tux and also two goats, Nestle Crunch and Peaches. Her personal interests include running and watching Syracuse basketball.
Meet Our Associate Veterinarian
Wendy Kathleen Kuceyeski, DVM, (pronounced Kooz-ee-YES-key) is an Associate Veterinarian at Total Veterinary Care’s Cicero location. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Hiram College and later earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University, where she was awarded with an “Excellence in Dermatology.” In addition, she received specialized training in veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine near Gainesville, Florida.
A self-proclaimed science geek who loves working with both people and animals, veterinary medicine seemed a natural thing for Wendy, though it did take a bit for her to figure this out. Her undergraduate degree is in creative writing and literature, and she initially worked as a quality assurance analyst for a major brewing company upon graduation. When her horse was injured, it was treated at OSU where the veterinarian in charge told Wendy she handled the situation so well she should consider going to vet school – so she did! She is the dog-mom of three wonderful canines: Mo, a 12-year old Bichon mix, Henry, a four-year old Havanese, and Eddie, a Maltese mix puppy she adopted when a client had an unexpected litter. Don’t be surprised if you see her hiking the Adirondacks with these wee pups in tow.
