Meet Steph Piascik, our veterinary receptionist at the Cicero, NY location of Total Veterinary Care. A graduate of Niagara University with a degree in Tourism and Special Events, Steph uses the skills she gleaned through her education to give all our patients the attention they need and support the activities of the hospital too.
Steph did not start out in the veterinary field. Upon graduation, she began a job that ultimately did not bring her joy. Being a lifelong lover of animals, she decided to change focus and found a role working to help people’s pets. “It’s very rewarding to work with and help animals,” says Steph.
Not only does she help animals through her job at TVC, she has also partnered with local pet-related organizations, including Helping Hounds Dog Rescue, where she collects and donates needed items and helped build their float a couple years ago for the Syracuse St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In fact, she found her very own hound, a Basset Hound Mix to be exact, while assisting at Helping Hounds. His name is Lumos, a name inspired by her favorite book series, Harry Potter. She and her husband love him to pieces.
Along with a passion for helping animals, Steph also has a passion for all things Disney. A former Walt Disney World and Disney Store cast member herself, she and her husband honeymooned at Disneyland Paris. They make a point to visit Orlando at least once a year and hope to visit all the different parks around the world someday. Her favorite quote just happens to be from Walt Disney: “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
Steph is quite the creative individual. When she’s not helping pet owners at Total Veterinary Care, she loves expressing herself through painting, drawing, sewing, photography and more. In fact, she plans to open her own Etsy shop within the next year. She and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors with Lumos by camping, kayaking, hiking and geocaching.
