At Total Veterinary Care®, we seek to fill our hospital teams with individuals who will uphold our core values of trustworthiness, professionalism, and quality care for the animals of our community. We think our team members are pretty amazing people, and we believe you will too when you hear their stories! We’ll be featuring a different employee every month on our blog to share about the amazing people we have caring for your furry companions.
Meet Darcie Johnson, a registered Veterinary Technician at our Kennesaw, Georgia location.
Darcie pursued her Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology because she wanted to improve the bond between animals and humans through education and care. With this in mind, she is most passionate about cat behavior. She is a member of NAVTA, the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. NAVTA is an organization dedicated to advancing veterinary nursing and technology. They work to strengthen the profession, advocate for awareness, provide support for its members, and promote sustainability through volunteer engagement. Our Darcie is a proud member of this prestigious organization and does a wonderful job of promoting its values.
A self-proclaimed cat lady, Darcie has 5 fur-babies and counting, all of whom are rescues. Mitchell is an eight-year-old black domestic short hair (DSH) cat rescued from an “overzealous, water-dunking toddler”. Seven-year-old black DSH, Demon, was rescued from the front seat of a car. One-year-old grey and white DSH, Tails, joined the family when he appeared one day at Darcie’s home and decided to stay. Jitterbug, a nine-month-old striped tabby, was saved from being euthanized by her previous owners. Finally, representing the canine population, seven-year-old white “yorkie-poo”, Cloud, was rescued from a puppy mill in South Carolina. Darcie has also said that she would like to expand her pet family with the addition of a potbellied pig.
When not enriching the lives of animals at work, Darcie loves to spend time cuddling all of these marvelous “fur children” and playing videogames.
Her love of cats is so strong that one of her favorite quotes is: “He who does not like cats has obviously never met the right one.” Darcie so thoroughly enjoys working with animals and spending time with her pets that it is impossible for her to pinpoint just one favorite animal-related memory.
Darcie Johnson’s passion for animals, advocacy for rescues, and dedication to building human-animal bonds embodies the values of TVC, so we are happy to call her our Team Member of the Month!
